Congratulations to Rob Ashton and Rob Veale for winning the Men's Champion of Champions Pairs on Sunday 7 April.  They played a strong team from Stokes Valley in the final and with 3 ends still to play they were 7 shots behind Stokes Valley. However they came from behind to pick up 4 shots on the next end, then another 3 shots to draw level going into the last end.  They scored 1 shot on the last end to give them the win.  This gives Rob Ashton a total of 31 Wellington Centre titles and Rob Veale 4 titles.

Johnsonville participated in the Bowls NZ initiated ‘Mates in Bowls’ for the first time this year.  It was decided to run this over a 6 week period on Sunday afternoons rather than week-day evenings to clearly differentiate from other clubs running ‘Mates in Bowls’ and our very successful ‘Community Bowls’.  This was clearly a successful strategy and we regularly had up to 10 teams of triples attending each session.

Well done to the Johnsonville women's premier interclub team on winning the National Interclub Finals repeating their effort of 2009 at Palmerston North over the weekend.

Congratulations Paula Meredith and Janet Nehemia for winning the Regional National Club Pairs in New Plymouth yesterday, they will represent our region in the National playoff on the 23rd and 24th June at the Waverley Bowling Club Invercargill well done girls.
